lame-living
Throughout high school I spent all my time studying to win academic awards, practicing for the best seat, working out for a varsity letter. At the end of senior year, I stood on the stage accepting pieces of paper and pins. I got this feeling of emptiness. I grew angry and people believed it was because I didn’t win as many as I wanted. I was actually mad at myself for believing that the titles and recognition were all that mattered. I realized how meaningless they are. My advice to incoming seniors is don’t focus on superficial accomplishments that the end result is one minute on a stage, a new paper weight, and kindling.
